Reviewing Zheng Binghou's Thought

浙江遂昌长濂村人郑秉厚,为官16年,心系百姓,权为民用,治行显著;性格耿直,秉笔上疏,抨击权贵。政治上主张皇帝要“坚立志以隆德业”,“慎纠劾以造就人才”;经济上提出“议赋役以齐一国法”,“清铺行以厘积弊”等主张。他是明朝中后期一位深受百姓爱戴的地方官吏,一位敢言敢谏的言官。

Zheng Binghou came form Suichuang Zhejiang, had been in official position for sixteen - years. He put common people into his heart and performed his power for the people and the achievements in his official career were obvious. His nature was straightforward and he submitted a memorial to the emperor for the sake of attacking influential officials. He maintained that the emperor must be determined to his cause and carefully impeached each other in the public official in order to train a talent. He posed that taxes and corvee should be discussed in order to be equal to all of the people. He was not only a local old government official who won the love and esteem from the common people, but also was a straightforward official.
