The purpose of this paper is to develop a coking kinetic model consisting of seven lumped species for fluid catalytic cracking (FCC). Firstly, the physical model of coking reaction was determined. Furthermore, the coking reactions of light fuel oils and heavy fuel oils with quite different compositions on commercial equilibrium zeolite catalysts were carried out in a fixed fluidized bed reactor. Based on experiment data, the parameters of this coking model were determined by use of a parameter estimation method in two steps from light fuel oil to heavy fuel oil. This work points out that this model can simulate the experimental coke yield well, predict the coke yield over a wide range of reaction conditions and fit well with the feature of FCC coking reaction.
