Urbanization: Cultural Unification or Cultural Multiplication?

城市化是一个不以人的意志为转移的客观历史过程。在这一过程中,少数民族人口将越来越多地进入城市。进入城市的少数民族成员在适应都市文化的过程中,一方面使城市文化呈现出一元化倾向,另一方面又存在多元化的事实。在对待少数民族文化的态度上,既不能以“一”否“多”,也不能强调“多”而忽视“一”。城市文化———乃至人类文化在实质上都是多元文化的统一体。

Urbanization is an objective historical course during which cultures of the countrysides , cities, different nationalities and foreign countries mix together to form a picture of multicultures in modem metropolis along with the further economic development and open - door policy in our country . However, urban culture has showed the tendency of being unified in the process of conflict . The seemingly contradictory ＂unified culture＂ and ＂ multiculture＂ don＇ t contradict each other . In fact , urban culture, even human culture, in essence, is the unity of multicultures.
