角料是指鹿、羊、牛以及犀牛的角．属非晶质体，成分（９８％以上）为有机质．具美丽的颜色或色带．呈半透明或不透明，油脂光泽，韧性强、硬度小（２．５），密度轻（１．２９—１．３１ｇ／ｃｍ３）、折光率低（１．５４），在紫外光下发较强的蓝白色荧光．具良好的热塑性，易于加工和抛光，优化处理后可提高质量，产品日益受珠宝爱好者青睐．
