Cadmium is a common heavy metal pollutant in marine environment. It exists mainly in sea water and substrata, and has marked toxicity to marine organisms in the stages of larva, juvenile and maturity. Our former works had demonstrated cadmium was an important mutagen in the sea and could be transfered via marine food chains from lower organisms to higher ones and eventually into human bodies after consuming.Present paper reports the experimental results of vitamin E in prawn,Penaeus orientalis and reveals it has a remarkable function of prohibiting and decreasing of Cd 2+ -absorption by the prawn. Therefore,it is possible using vitamin E as a prohibitor against transfer of Cd 2+ -mutagen in marine organisms. This conclusion was verified by both of chemical analysis with PRGP and mutagenic test with Trad-MCN.
