A Forerunner in Communication between China and Western Countries --On Pearl Buck and Her Work "The Good Earth"

Pearl Buck, by ＂The Good Earth＂, not only attracts the westerners＇ attention on China, but also changes the negative images of Chinese long existing in their minds. Focusing on the relationships between Wang Long and the land, she shows that farmers thrive on land. She tries to prove that there are similarities in humankind. Although she sometimes is not true to the Chinese realities, we can＇ t ignore her role in the history of cultural communication.
