英语多义词的传统和认知研究

Analysis on Traditional and Cognitive Approaches to English Polysemy

一词多义是常见的语言现象,一直是语言学家关注的焦点。关于多义词中各意义的形成及其关系问题,传统语言学和认知语言学都做出了相应的解释。分析了多义词研究的传统方法,然后以英语介词为例,从认知语言学的角度对其进行阐释,以说明从认知角度分析多义词要优于传统的研究方法。

As a common language phenomenon, Polysemy is always the focus of linguists. Concerning its formation and the relationship of various senses of a single lexical item, corresponding explanations can be found in beth traditional and cognitive linguistics. This paper analyzes traditional approach and interprets it with cognitive approach by means of English prepositions so as to explains the superiority of cognitive aporoach to traditional one.
