Facing 2008: Olympic Security and Crisis Management

在各种危机频发的现代社会,危机管理的重要性日益突出。奥运会不但是一件体育盛事,也是一项重要的国际活动,安全保障是重中之重。对2008年北京奥运会来说,由于“台独”势力日益猖獗、一些国内矛盾的存在等因素,发生相关危机事件是可能的。这不但会影响奥运安全,甚至还将危害国家安全。为了尽力防止和减少危机,应该把危机管理与奥运安全结合起来,从危机预防、危机准备、危机反应、危机恢复等方面未雨绸缪,提前应对,把2008年奥运会办成一次安全的奥运会,争取实现没有危机的危机管理。

Crisis management is crucial in modern societies that are replete with various crises. The Olympic Games represent not only a grand assembly of athletes but also an important international activity. Thus, security is of prime importance. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics the increasingly rampant activities of the Taiwan independence movement and the various domestic conflicts will all possibly pose a danger to both the security of the Olympic Games and even to national security. To prevent and guard against a crisis, crisis management should be subordinated to Olympic security. Careful preparation for crisis prevention, preparation, reaction, and recovery will make Beijing safer and will safeguard against any crisis in 2008.
