长期以来,西方史学界认为,迈锡尼文明衰落后的四个世纪中,希腊一直处于“贫穷”、“无知”的状态中。但是,新近的研究表明:“黑暗时代”不仅存在着与迈锡尼文明的联系,而且是古希腊历史上发生重大变革的时期。在这个时期,希腊的生产技术、经济结构、政治制度、艺术风格、宗教习俗以及社会模式都发生了深刻的变化,这些社会变革为希腊城邦文明奠定了基础。

For a long time, people in the West believed that Greece was in poverty and illiteracy for about four hundred years after the collapse of Mycenae. But recent studies show that there were some links between the Dark Age and the Mycenaean age and many important changes occurred in Greece society in the Dark Age. The changes in productive technology, economical structure, political system, art styles, religions customs and social models were the basis of system of Greece city.
