摘要
夏洛特.帕金斯.吉尔曼是美国女性主义文学的鼻祖。对吉尔曼的小说进行整体考察,可以发现:她的创作经历了从解构“他乡”(男权社会)到建构“她乡”(女性乌托邦)的转变,或者说,从以揭露和解构为主的现实主义,走向了以规划和建构为目标的乌托邦主义写作。这使她成为树立女性乌托邦典范的枢纽人物,其对于现代女性乌托邦文学的影响可谓深远。同时,这一转变也充分显示了吉尔曼女性主义思想的前瞻性,她预见性地实践了后现代女性主义所倡导的女性主义文学之目标,即:击破、摧毁、预见与规划。
Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a foremother of American feminist literature. Her whole life was devoted to the cause of feminism. A systematic study of her works reveals that her writing has undergone a paradigm shift from deeonstrueting "hisland" (the patriarchal ideology)to constructing a "herland" (a feminist utopia), or in other words, a shift from feminist realism to feminist utopianism. She anticipates what the postmodem feminism advocates as the goal of feminist writing: to break up, to destroy, and to foresee the unforeseeable, and to project future.
