XUXue-yi＇ s comments on poetry of different times were often based on different theories to foreground the characteristics of differeat times and the personalities. His examination of early Tang＇s poetry was supported hy the crucial terms ＂wit＂and ＂attainments＂ which extend the commentary limit of early Tang inherited from the six dynasties and found the traits of Tang＇s poetry in its early stage.
