天津位于两条铁路干线（北京-山海关、北京-上海）的结合点。新火车站方案是将三个受条件限制的单体建筑融合为一个综合的、标识性的整体建筑，有效地分散人流；提供高质量候车环境和公共空间．并将火车站与周边不同区域之间的关联设计成城市公园形式。天津火车站的屋顶是一个可从两侧进入的公共平台．就像步行穿过一个公园。
The city of Tianjin is located centrally at the joint of two major arteries, the Beijing-Shanhaiguan Railway and the Beijing-Shanghai Railway. The design for the new Tianjin railway station unites three defining qualifications of this specific hub into one comprehensive and recognizable gesture： efficient distribution of passenger flows; good-quality public space for waiting in between connections; and urban, park-like crossing-point connecting the different surrounding areas, The roof of the Tianjin railway station is a public space that is accessible on both sides of the railway station, as a walk through a park.
