装饰艺术的基本特征就是形式美,是作为客体而依存于主体的艺术。它的特点则是因时代、地理环境、经济条件、文化水平、民族习尚和审美观点的不同而表现出不同的风格。现在,装饰艺术越来越紧密地与现代化工业技术相结合,不断形成新的工艺手段与造型风格。
