On Bi-family in the Song Dynasty——Focus on Genealogy,Officialdom and Marriage

宋代郑州管城毕氏家族是宋代诸多家族中的一支,自毕士安而下六代,以科举起家,以恩荫久宦,以婚姻维系,具有宋代世家大族“世宦”、“世婚”的特征和兴衰的一般模式,但也有其世显以材、不蓄家产、科举稀疏、高官不多的个性特征。

Bi-family lived in Guancheng county of Zhengzhou , was one of many clans in the Song dynasty. Six generations from Bi Shi -an to his descendants , grouped and thrived by imperial civil examination, became officials continuously in means of protection by ancestors , and developed by marriage with official families. Bi-family not only had general characters, such as being officials and marriage with official families generation after generation, and a mode of the prosperity and adversity , but also had such particularities as outstanding administrative work of government officials , and no saving- up family property , and sparing in imperial civil examination and fewer higher -ranking officials .
