李春祥先生撰写了我国新时期“第一本元杂剧史”———《元杂剧史稿》,对元曲进行了全方位的研究,在新时期的元曲研究界开风气之先;他提出并论证了“《录鬼簿》才是戏剧史领域里的开山之作”,将我国戏曲史中有关这门学科建设的时间提早了600年;他对元代包公戏、元杂剧地域范畴的研究及元人散曲的研究多有见地;他对元杂剧“全面的、多角度的,也是宏观与微观相结合的”研究,取得了学术界公认的成绩。

The History of The Poetic Drama of Yuan Dynasty by Li Chunxiang is considered as ＂the first history book of the poetic drama of Yuan dynasty＂, The book studies Yuan drama all-round and it is a vanguard of the study of Yuan drama in present age, Mr, Li Chunxiang proposed and proved that The Stories of Ghosts and Deities by Zhong Sicheng was the very first work of drama. This judgment means that the time when the study of drama appeared in ancient China was 600 years earlier, Mr. Li also had keen insight of Bao Gong drama, the study of the local places of Yuan drama and the non-drama song in Yuan dynasty. His study achievement is comprehensive, all-sided and it combined macroscopic research with microscopic research. His achievement is generally praised by the academic circles.
