租界、“洋旗报”与近代报业——中国近代新闻事业生存环境变迁的一个独特视角

Foreign Leased Territory,"Foreigner-owned" and Modern Press——A Special Angle on the Changes of China's Modern Journalism

近代报业在中国社会的近代化的过程中起过积极的作用。中国的近代报业是外国人以租界为阵地,利用他们的特权创办起来的,因而是帝国主义侵略的产物。然而近代报刊所折射出来的巨大作用,吸引了那些有忧患意识的人士积极投身其中。为应付清政府的严酷控制,他们屡屡或在租界办报,或创办“洋旗报”。租界和“洋旗报”在近代中国成了国人就办报问题与政府展开“博弈”的手段。

Modern press has played an important role in the process of modernization of China＇ s society. Foreigners founded modern newspapers in their leased territory with their privilege. But the function of modern newspapers attracted those people who showed great concern about China＇ s future. In order to deal with government＇ s strict control, they always established newspapers in the foreign leased territory, and made their papers owned by foreigners. Those measures became important methods against the Qing Dynasty.
