英语时态与时间关系紧密,但是0时间现象却没有明确的时态归属。传统语法在分析0时间概念的“客观事实”时,只是把这种现象罗列在一般现在时内,忽视了对其归类。对一般现在时的用法进行子类分析时,主要线索是被研究对象与时间的关系,但是处理“客观事实”时,则以现象替代了这种关系,出现了明显的不一致。提出“0时间一般现在时”,不仅符合上述分类的基本线索,还有充分的依据、明确的辨别标准、进一步细分的路径和重要的现实意义。
