The access tunnel project is the key item in the preliminary phase of the construction of Jinping Hydro - electric Plant. The paper introduces the high pressure ground water ingress and outburst encountered in the construction and different countermeasures employed to tackle them according to the different geological and ingress and outburst conditions, which can be taken for reference by similar projects.
