A model group of aging 3-month-old rats induced with D-galactose was compared with the model group treated with pollen collected by bees. The results showed:1) superoxid dismutase (SOD) activity increased significantly in the cerrebellus, hippocampus, striatum of rats respectively and catalase (CAT) acttivity increased remarkably in the cerebellus, hippocampus, striatum and hypothalmus of model+pollen group respectively,2) the concentration of ASP (in str.), Glu(in cort. Hipp. str.ect.), Tau (in all regions except Hyp) increased significantly and GABA (in str.) decreased (noticeably, notably, prominently, impressively) in model+pollen group, and 3) the levels of spermidine (Spd) increased significantly in model+pollen group. The study has proved that the pollen has a function to protect rats from aging induced by D-galactose.
