Russian symbolist Andrey Bely regards symbolism as world outlook, and as the only means of realization of human ideal, by which he tried to probe the path of his nation＇ s development. This article explores Bely＇ s world of consciousness from the viewpoints of time and space, characters and their relationships, scenes, and events in Petersburg. In the world of consciousness, Bely traced the development of Russian history and culture, pursued his aesthetical and philosophical ideal, and thus unfolded his spiritual pilgrimage.
