The paper points out the value of remodeling and expanding the old environment for the public construction projects, and raises the question on how to harmonize the new and old architectural environments. Through theoretical investigations and many case analyses, we synthesize that, in addition to promoting environmen tal awareness, the remodeling and expanding old environment for the public construction projects can follow three methods to achreve environmental harmony： subordination, contrast, and resonance.
