很多学生和教师都对哲学感兴趣，您对在建筑学校中教授哲学有什么看法？ 在建筑学校中开设哲学课是为了给学生们提供一个哲学背景。当然教学要针对学生的兴趣，没有什么可以与这些兴趣相提并论，但哲学不应该被认为是一种工具。它不能从外部直接指导建筑实践，至少它不能像这样定位，如果真是那样的话，哲学必将辜负人们的期望。最重要的是学生们能够了解在哲学史中的各种观点，以便让这种了解可以告诉学生如何从对形式生成和运行设计的理解中思考这些议题。

A lot of students and teachers are interested in philosophy in the AA. What is your opinion about teaching philosophy in architectural school？ Teaching philosophy, if it is to take place in architectural schools, should be done in order to provide students with a backgrund in philosophy. While the teaching should be directed towards the interests of the students, without ever having to coincide absolutely with those interests, it should never be understood as instrumental. Philosophy cannot direct architectural practice from the outside. Or at least it should not be positioned such that this is the expectation, if it were than philosophy would fail to live up to such an expectation. What is important is that students become aware of positions within the history of philosophy in order that this awareness may inform how they think about issues the anse from understanding both form generation and program.
