“不想当将军的士兵不是好士兵”，拿破仑的这句名言为世人所熟知；同样地，我们也可以说，“不想当大师的设计师不是好的设计师”。因为“大师”这个称号，代表的不仅仅是荣耀和光环，而且是对设计师的专业水平和对社会所做贡献的肯定。在全面建设小康社会的阶段，特别是迎接入世的挑战中，我们比过去的任何时候都需要更多的大师，为今天人们的美好生活创造更安全，更舒适的居住和工作环境。

“Soldier not wanting to be general Is not a good soldier”, this logion by Napoleon is well known in this wodd. Likewise, we might say that “designer not wanting to be master is not a good designer”. Because the title of “master” does not merely mean glory and credit, but also a kind of confirmation to the desiganer＇s efforts and contribution for this society. Today all through our country are working hard to build well-off society, we need more real masters than ever to create safer, more comfortable living and working environment. Young designers are always the elite of design circle. Some of them have already become master designers but more will rise among them. The emergence of more design masters means the improving of our design level as a whole and the enhancement of our international competition. But we should notice that though personal efforts will be key element of becoming a master, the support from our society is also absolutely necessarily. From it＇s beginning, the magazine of IAoC has taken cultivate more masters as it＇s most important work. The theme of this Issue is set as “Designers Active in Zhejiang”, it is exactly an example of our efforts to help young designers making progress.
