The site is organized and dominated by the two lines of transportation running parallel to each other-the elevated train and the railroad. Our study area starts at Zhichunlu station, and ends of Wudookou Station. In 1990s, one story housing created by the communist government during the 1950s on the site started to be demolished. Some of the housing had been replaced by new resident housing, office, and commercial development,Now the siteis having a wide range of living conditions, multi types of commercial activifies, and many modes of travel. As regional transportation networks (elevated train and the railroad) hinder local circulation two sides of the reilroad is lacking communication with each other. And for the most part, surrounding neighborhoods present to the site the blank face of a solid fence.
