An Interview with Prof. von Gerkan, GMP

对冯·格康教授和其他德国建筑师而言,"外来建筑"和"外国建筑师"是非常平常的概念。从上个世纪中以来,许多外国建筑师在德国特别是柏林实现了自己的作品。然而中国项目的规模和速度令德国建筑师惊讶了,但他们在渡过开始阶段的迷惘后很快适应了新的环境,没有改变的只是他们的设计理念。在目前建筑设计追求标新立异的环境下,GMP始终坚持功能出发的设计思想,同时关注建筑的细部和质量。面对例如"可持续性建筑"等概念,冯·格康教授有着自己的理解。对于中国目前规划及建筑设计的现状,则用一贯直接和犀利的风格做出了评论。

To Prof yon Gerkan, president of GMP and other Gernqan architects,＂foreign architecture＂ and ＂foreign architects＂ are very common concepts For since last century. plenty foreign architects accomplished their works in Germany especially in Berlin, But they were really astonished by the scale and speed of projects in China After a period or confusion at the beginning stage, they ,soon adjusted themselves to the new environmenk but insist an Lheir own design philosophy, As in their current design no matter how people running after fashions or styles they always attempt to honour function as their basic principle in design, together with continuous attention to details and qualty. For ＂sustainable architecture＂, Prof. von Gerkan also has his own opinion About the current planning and architectural design in China, he always makes comments in a straightforward and keen manner.
