This paper gives a brief introduction to the newly-arising inter-disciplinary subject , fractal , which is considered as one of the most important parts of non-linear science. First of all, this paper traces back the history of fractal development; then briefly introduces its research object as well as the concept of the research instrument of fractal, the fractal dimension ; and finally, throws light on the future of fractal development.
