进入21世纪，资源和环境问题已成为人类可持续发展所要关心的首要问题。镁作为一种地球资源相当丰富的轻质工程材料，目前其应用潜力尚未充分挖掘出来。本文介绍了被誉为“21世纪绿色工程结构材料”一镁合金的特点及其应用现状。文章最后指出，加大对镁合金应用及理论研究的开发．是目前摆在我国科研工作者面前的重要课题。

When 21 century comes, problems of resources and environment have become primary issues for sustainable development. Magnesium, as a kind of lightweight engineering material wiry considerable abundant resource in the earth, has not been dredge up in practical application now. This article introduces the characteristic and applied actuality of Magnesium alloys - called“green structural material for the 21 century”. At last the article points out that explotiation and theoretic research is an important task for scientific research in our country.
