This paper introduces the law basis and institute setting of the emergency management, the response protocol regulation for pollution emergency of water sources by United States Environmental Protection Agency （EPA）, and the specified response protocol for contamination emergency of water source by Ohio State. The successful experiences to respond to the contamination emergency of water sources in USA are summarized from six aspects including the law basis, institute setting, modern information technology, different participants, professional research, and fund guarantee. It may give a reference for management of response to water pollution emergency in China.
