This paper stated the development of the recording instrument and program used in the field work of S/M, from coming into being, updating, to being multifunctional, and the problems and difficulties in using encountered by the workers of China Seismological Bureau were gradually shown with the practical geodetic survey. Furthermore, the newest functions were discussed deeply to make suggestions for further progress.
