Alice Walker's By the Light of My Father's Smile studies the sex sequence's effect on black women's growth in the frame d the conflicts between father and daughters. The book is more a manifesto on the equality about both sexes than female homosexual one. It destroys dual contrasts between men and women under western patriarchy by a kind of original national belief and sets up a new kind of equal and independent relationship between two sexes. It overturns original old sexual order.
