关联理论对戏剧《沉默侍者》中非关联和无关联会话的阐释

Irrelevant and Absurd Dialogues in The Dumb Waiter

本文运用关联理论分析了2005年诺贝尔文学奖得主Harold Pinter的名剧《沉默侍者》,从该剧会话中的非关联和无关联现象入手,解释了该剧会话支离破碎和荒诞不经的原因。剧中的非关联会话包括假设与现时语境无关、假设已存在于现时语境中以及假设与现时语境不符三种情形。无关联会话则分为两大类:逻辑推算和理解层面的交际失败,前者包含指称含糊、语句歧解和语义宽窄度不一,后者有意图和推断之间的局部错配和整体错配。如此频繁多样的交际失败自然导致人物会话的艰涩和剧情的荒诞。

The present study is an attempt to illustrate The Dumb Waiter within the framework of the Relevance Theory.The absurd impression of the play upon her audience and readers comes from the irrelevant and absurd dialogues of the characters.It is various kinds of these non-relevant dialogues that result in frequent failures in communication between the two characters and,more significantly,create the absurdity of the play.()
