Existential Constructions:Relational Construal at the Syntax-Semantics Interface

本文在句法语义界面,对存现结构句法配置进行关系诠释,认为英汉典型存现结构句法表征不尽相同,但都是在存现事件结构中表达凸像与背衬的语义关系,在句法结构上表现出非宾格性特征。其句法配置都不是由存现主动词而是由存现轻动词允准。汉语存现结构的外论元要求外部引入。

This paper explores the syntactic configurations of the existential constructions in the framework of the theory of lexical-syntax by Hale & Keyser and the extended analyses based on this approach to the relational construal at the syntax-semantics interface,arguing that existential constructions in English and Chinese have different syntactic representations,but they share the same FIGURE-GROUND configuration in the underlying core structure with the property of unaccusativity.The argument structure configuration inside VP is licensed by the Light Verb like EXIST or HOLD,but the introduction of the external argument is projected by the Applicative Head.
