释“装界”

Explaination of the Chinese Word Zhuanjie

“装界”一词,文籍中多见,而诸多辞书均未收录,《汉语大词典》虽收而因断句之误,错释成“背匠”。本文援引大量材料,证明了“装界”即“装潢”,指装裱古籍或字画,“装界作”指装裱工作的场所。同时也为“装界”一词寻找出更早的书证。

There are so many examples of the Chinese word Zhuangjie in ancient literature. But many dictionaries did not embody this word. It is incorrect that Hanyu da cidian （Chinese Dictionary） had explained Zhuangjie as Beijiang （the worker to mount in ancient Chinese）. In fact, Zhuangjie is Zhuang- huang which means mounting ancient books or calligraphy and painting, so Zhuangjiezhuo （ the extent word from Zhuangjie） means the room where people mount. Earlier examples for zhuangjie were also offered.
