With the introduction of West novels through translation, the case-solving novels with a chivalrous spirit of ancient China gradually lost their influence and then fell into two different groups, one being the detective stories and the other the knight-errant novels. In this process, the Chinese case-solving novel Digong Case-solving Stories has a special position. The Sinologist Robert Van Gulik of The Netherlands has a special insight because he has translated Digong Case-solving Stories into his native language and then created his own series of Digong Case-solving Stories, which provides a most suitable case for a comparative study of Chinese case-solving novels and West detective novels.
