什叶派伊斯兰教自16世纪引入伊朗后,经历了数世纪的历史演变。一方面,由外部输入,依附王权的教派,壮大为制约王权,代表民族的社会力量;另一方面,什叶派自身,从教义到教阶制度,同时也发生重大变革。什叶派今日种种不同于逊尼派的特征,大多肇源于此。

Shia Islam had undergone some hundred＇ s historical evolvement since it was imported into the Safavi Iran in the sixteenth century. Ithna ＇ Ashari Shia Islam as a sect which was imported from outside and adhered to kingship, on the one hand, has become such a powerful religious establishment that it can restrict royalty and represent the interests of people. On the other hand, Shia Islam itself witnessed great changes, from its teachings to hierarchy system. Its distinctive characteristics, which differ from Sunni Islam today, are mostly originated from this period.
