本文以四川盆地及邻近地区为例，综合分析了降雨对滑坡、泥石流发育的基本作用．研究认为，前期降雨量是滑坡、泥石流等不良地质现象发育的充分条件，而降雨强度则是必要条件．前期降雨量与降雨强度这一对充要条件进行滑坡、泥石流预报预警的主要指标．
