On Choice of Translating Strategies during Process of Cultural Transformation

文章以《红楼梦》两个英译本作为个案研究,从目的论角度、译者的意识形态及其所处的文化环境出发,分析了影响翻译策略选择的几个因素,进而指出在跨文化交际中,如何处理好归化和异化之间的关系,使二者相互补充、相辅相成。

The translating strategies employed during the process of cultural transformation belong to either foreignlzation or domestication. In terms of Scoops Theory proposed by Hams Vermeer,the cultural identification represented by the translator and his ideology,the paper discusses several elements which influence the choice of translating strategies through the contrastive study on two English versions about l-long Luo Meng, and the relations between the two translating strategies during cross - euhural communication.
