Examples of Demerits in Notations on Xun Zi

对古书的前人之注作仔细地审校、订正是近古小学界的一项重要工作。学人们纷纷著书立说,其中不乏真知灼见,然亦多以今拟古随意揣测,以标新立异之说妄改原注者。这不是科学的态度。本文试以近古诸家对《荀子》杨亻京注之校勘失误为例来说明这个问题,进而认为古籍整理研究工作要以一种科学、审慎的态度来对待前人之注。

It is an important work for linguists to collate carefully the original notations on ancient books. They have proposed their statements in which there is some truth. But there exist some demerits too. They sometimes guess the idea of the ancients with modem ideas, deduce and alter arbitrarily the original notations. It isn＇t a scientific attitude. This essay have illustrated the problem in inspecting their collation to Yang＇s notations on Xunzi. Moreover,we propose that we should treat the original notations on ancient books with a scientific and prudent attitude.
