The importance of marine biotechnological industry （MBI） was emphasized on in this article from different perspectives, such as the main industry chain of MBI, the role of MBI in national economy, the penetrability of MBI and the relations of MBI to other industries, to review the processes of exploring the products of MBI, the industry structure and resource potential of MBI. Meanwhile, the developmental conditions of MBI in the world were analyzed. The article indicated that MBI as a branch of biotechnological industry is being emphasized on by many countries gradually. At present, MBIs such as marine biomedicine and so on have been focused on by food and medicine research and to search the anti-virus and anti-cancer materials from marine active compound has become the focus in the world. The developed countries such as U.S etc. have achieved great development in the field of extraction of marine anti- cancer and anti-bacteria active compound, and R＆D of anti-cardiovascular disease, radio medicine, marine bio-enzyme and marine functional food. With the emphasis on the marine industry gradually in the world, the increasing investment on MBI by multinational corporation and the development of marine bio-technique the MBI is increasing its＇ occupation probability in GDP.
