严复翻译策略的目的论观

Yan Fu's Translation:From Skopostheory Perspective

严复是中国近代著名的思想家和翻译家,“严译八大名著”不仅在当时而且对以后中国社会发展都产生了深刻的影响;严译标准“信、达、雅”也为人们所津津乐道,一度被奉为圭臬,但也不乏怀疑甚至批评。本文首先介绍了翻译目的论,接着运用目的论的“翻译行为的目的决定达到预期目标的策略”这一基本原则分析严复翻译西学所采用的策略,指出其翻译策略内在的目的性,同时试图从目的论角度解释“信、达、雅”之争。

Yan Fu is a famous thinker and translator in Qing Dynasty. The eight western works translated and introduced by him have exerted great influence on China＇s development in modern times. His standard ＂faithfulness, expressiveness and gracefulness＂ has caused controversies in translation circle. This paper, based on the principles of Skopotheory, analyses the strategies for his western studies translation, points out the inner objective of his strategies, thus to explore the reason for his standard controversy from Skopostheory.
