Rehabilitation and Prevention for the Disability and Deformity of Leprosy

麻风发病率显著下降后,但其遗留的畸残康复问题日益突出。首先对麻风畸残患者作出合理的畸残状况评估,然后针对具体情况采用相应的康复措施,包括药物、手术、理疗、营养等。医学模式转变后,社区康复、社会经济康复明显提高了麻风畸残康复的效率,令患者和社会更易于接受,有力推动了麻风消灭运动的进程。

With the sharp declining of leprosy incidence, rehabilitation for the disability and deformity of leprosy becomes increasingly important. A correct evaluation of the disability of leprosy patients, before rehabilitation, is required to determine the optimal ways of rehabilitation, such as drugs, surgical operations, physical therapy, food nutrition, etc. After the medical model is transformed, the efficiency of leprosy rehabilitation has been improved by community-based rehabilitation and socio-economic rehabilitation, which are more acceptable by the leprosy-affected persons and the society, and also have promoted the leprosy eradication programmes.
