To counter the problems in the English text teaching in colleges, the paper summarizes the theory and principles of the Whole Language Approach and discusses how to apply the theory to the English text teaching by putting forward three specific steps, aiming to facilitate the students ＇interest in learning English and hence improve their language proficiency.
