Self-training approaches for improving the editors' professional capability of English scientific periodicals

The quality of an English periodical lies on mainly the professional capability of English editors. A qualified English editor should have wide professional knowledge, master editing skills, good written ability of English as well as high sense of responsibility. It needs a continually raising process to become a qualified English editor. In the light of the current editors＇ level of English scientific periodicals in China, discussions are made on how to become a capable English editor in relatively shorter term and several effective ways for enhancing the abilities of English editors are put forward.
