Once it was a canary in a coalmine, today it＇s a real-time data transmission system. Gas detection technology has progressed from a small bird to a large bulky instrument requiring almost constant, and expensive maintenance, to a hand-held, user-friendly sensor whose running costs are fashionably minimal.
