晚清“新小说”观念的提出,是中华文明在走向贫弱的途中,力图复兴的一种应对策略,是其旨在借助外来文明的引入达到“新民”理想的表达,但是在中西文化的对接过程中,他们在面对影响时焦灼矛盾的心态和对外来文化采取的“误读”策略值得深入探讨。

The appearance of New Fiction theory in the late Qing Dynasty was a countermeasure to strive for renaissance when Chinese civilization was drawing towards decay, with the purpose of expressing new nation ideal by way of introducing foreign civilization. However, in the process of joining oriental and occidental civilizations, the people then had misgivings and misunderstanding on foreign culture influence, which is worthy of research.
