The Multiple Roles of the Translator in the Process of Literal Translation

本文以文学翻译活动的主体———译者为研究对象,通过分析译者在文学翻译中的各个阶段所做的工作以及所扮演的相应角色,旨在说明文学翻译的复杂性和艰巨性,还译者一个公正的地位。

Although the translator is the subject of literal translation, his status has not been greatly discussed by researches. By analyzing what the translator does at the different stages of literal translation and the corresponding roles that he plays, the paper intends to show the complexity and difficulty of literal translation and to call for further elevating the translator＇s status.
