Statistics suggest that during the first five months of this year, select industrial enterprises in Shandong Province had achieved a profit of 102 billion yuan （US$12.7 billion）,close to the total profits for Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces combined. ＂The past five years have been one of the best eras for Shandong, whose GDP had averaged an annual growth of 13 percent,＂ said Han Yuquan, provincial governor, at an investment forum in July. By estimates, for the first six months of this year, the province＇s GDP growth stood at 15 percent, as against the national rate of 10.9 percent.
