What the French riot reflected is not the ethnic conflicts between the Muslim immigrants and the natives, but the gap between the immigrant culture and the prevailing French culture, especially the contradictions between the Islamic culture brought along by the Arabian immigrants and the assimilation -oriented " Republic Model" adopted by the French government and its consequences. In order to fill up the gap and achieve unitary identity and social harmony, firstly the French government should define the rational rights each culture could have and the applicable scope the multicultural policy should fall into, then integrate the non -mainstream culture with the mainstream culture by mixing and grinding each other.
