在清代,鄂西北地区丰富的土地资源和独特的自然环境,为各地区缺乏土地的农民所吸引,纷纷移居本地。他们开垦出了大量的无主荒地,在此基础上,有效地发展了当地的经济,促进了鄂西北地区社会经济的发展。但是由于开发过度,特别是对森林资源的掠夺,给当地造成了严重的后果。

In the Qing dynasty, the rich land resources and unique natural environment in the Northwest region of Hubei Province made the peasants without field immigrate into this region. They reclaimed a large number of abandoned lands and effectively promoted the development of the local economy and the socio--economic development in the region. However, the excessive exploitation, especially the exploitation of forest resources did great harm to region.
