This essay elaborates on the three fundamentally important qualities of editors of medical journals, namely political quality, professional quality and the quahty to bring forth new ideas. Special emphasis is laid on the quality to bring forth new ideas, such a quality for future development and progress. An editor of medical journals should work hard and strive to be an expert in medical science and editing, and become an entrepreneur.
